About the Tattoo:

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a world-class event, rooted in Scottish tradition, offering audiences an experience like no other. Performed to a live audience of 230,000 each year on the iconic Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, the Tattoo showcases creativity through music, precision performances and dance from military and cultural acts from around the globe.

The success of the Tattoo relies on the connection of performers, staff, and audiences and this enables us to contribute to Services and Arts charities each year. We’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and personable people to work with us and join our world-class team.

Duration:

This is a temporary position between 30 July – 23 August 2025. Your normal working week is a minimum of 38.5 hours between 18:00-00:00 Monday to Friday and 15:30-00:00 on Saturdays, although you may be required to work in excess of this.

There will also be an opportunity to work additional dates over the Castle Concerts period (3-13 July 2025). 

Job Purpose Summary:

To provide a high level of customer service, regardless of an individual’s access needs, improving the customer experience of patrons and spectators. The successful candidate will be kind, patient, well-spoken, and have a passion for making events more enjoyable for those with additional needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide wheelchair pushing assistance to guests, and assistance to guests who have additional needs in a friendly and engaging way.
  • Carry out welfare and accessibility procedures as outlined in the Event Management Plan.
  • Be able to confidently assist customers with varying levels of physical and mental conditions while maintaining a positive demeanour.
  • Confidently use radios to communicate with colleagues. 
  • Understand the security and safety plans and their role in it.  
  • Carry out pre-event security checks to ensure the site is safe prior to occupation.
  • Be familiar with the layout of the site and assist the audience by giving directions to facilities. 
  • Investigate any disturbances or incidents, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Deliver the Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) for access customers.

Essential Criteria:

  • Have experience working with vulnerable individuals, or people with additional needs.
  • Must be able to lift, squat, stoop, push, stand, and bend throughout the course of a shift. 
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and/or hold 75lbs or more.
  • Have a professional and caring nature for the challenges faced by our customers with varying levels of physical and mental conditions. 
  • Have a positive demeanour – able to remain calm, helpful, and work well in a high pressure, high demand role.
  • Over 18 years of age.  

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in theatre or other entertainment venues. 
  • Experience in a customer care environment or public facing role.
  • Experience in healthcare or other carer role.
  • First Aid.
