About the Tattoo: 

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a world-class event, rooted in Scottish tradition, offering audiences an experience like no other. Performed to a live audience of 230,000 each year on the iconic Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, the Tattoo showcases creativity through music, precision performances and dance from military and cultural acts from around the globe.

The success of the Tattoo relies on the connection of performers, staff, and audiences and this enables us to contribute to Services and Arts charities each year. We’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and personable people to work with us and join our world-class team.

Duration:  

This is a temporary position from 30 July – 23 August 2025. Your normal working week is a minimum of 38.5 hours between 18:00-00:00 Monday to Friday and 15:30-00:00 on Saturdays, although you may be required to work in excess of this.

Job Purpose Summary: 

To drive a mobility minibus, transporting patrons with additional access needs closer to the venue, whilst more broadly providing a high level of customer service, enhancing the customer experience of Tattoo patrons and spectators. The role of a driver is important to the successful and smooth operation of the Tattoo.

Key Duties:

  • Be able to confidently assist customers with varying levels of physical and mental conditions while maintaining a positive demeanour.
  • Treat all guests with dignity and respect.  
  • Ensure that all passengers receive safe, reliable customer-orientated transportation.
  • Advise your manager of any accidents or incidents in line with company policy.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests where appropriate.
  • Obey all traffic laws and regulations while driving any Tattoo Vehicle. 
  • Ensure the vehicle assigned to you is always: 
    • Clean, tidy, and presentable to a high standard.
    • Maintained and in a serviceable condition as far as fuel, oil and lubrication are concerned.
    • Secure and parked in accordance with local Traffic Regulations.
  • Look after all documentation and equipment issued to you for the purpose of carrying out your duties.
  • Display vehicle passes that have been allocated to the vehicle when required e.g. 
    for dispensation parking.
  • Engage with Event organisers to provide insightful feedback to improve processes for the future.

Essential Criteria:

  • Confident and well presented.
  • Good safe driving skills.
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Approachable and helpful.
  • A positive and flexible attitude.
  • Current full UK driving licence.
  • Must be aged 18 or over in compliance with the company’s insurance terms. 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in a public facing role.
  • Experience working with vulnerable people.
  • First Aid.
