Proud to support The Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines fundraising efforts

We’re pleased to have donated £1000 to The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines fundraising efforts for charities supporting their friend and band mate, Sophie Ward.

This year’s Journeys cast members, The Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines, have launched a Service-wide fundraising campaign in support of their friend and band member, Musician Sophie Ward, who was diagnosed with MND in January this year. Sophie joined the Royal Marines Band Service (RMBS) in 2020, serving as a flute and saxophone player. Her diagnosis has deeply impacted everyone who had the privilege of working and performing alongside her, and the band has rallied together to show their support in an inspiring way.

In honor of Sophie, all members of the RMBS have been invited to take part in the #26ForSoph Challenge, which encourages participants to complete a challenge involving the number 26, Sophie’s age at the time of her diagnosis. From 26-hour runs to climbing 26 mountains, the band members have gone above and beyond to raise awareness and funds for the charities that have been supporting Sophie and her family.

One particularly remarkable effort saw members of the RMBS walk 26 kilometres from Edinburgh Castle to HMS Caledonia in Rosyth, immediately following a double performance on Saturday.

As we continue to follow their fundraising journey, we remain inspired by the resilience and dedication of The Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines. Their efforts serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing by those in need, and we are honoured to support their cause.
